Artist Bio

Ryan Everson

For the last 20 years Ryan Everson has, quite simply, been a Mechanic that likes making art. In 2016 he retired from the wrenches and dove head first into the Art world full time using his collection of recycled copper wire to make his favorite natural art form, trees. His beautiful work reflects his time out on the road, working as a mechanic away from his home town of Warrenton, Oregon where his favorite trees are. "whenever I was away from home working, I missed the trees back home" he said recently "the ones with the ocean views, sculpted by nature are my favorite" " My career started when I got a job after school at a small family owned and operated lawnmower shop" said Ryan in a recent interview," I then went on to fixing M1A2 tanks in a combat zone, to full time welding college with two side jobs, to my own automotive and exhaust/fab. shop, to the North Dakota oilfields, and now back to my hometown on the beautiful north coast of Oregon. Along the way I have always stopped and looked at the art no matter where it was, and made some whenever I could, out of whatever I could gather. Fixing stuff is my job, making stuff is my passion". Aside from copper tree sculpture, Ryan also can: tie flies, wrap fishing rods, weld sculpture, make abstract pottery (he's still practicing), has begun dabbling in mosaic, can kind of paint, and likes to work with almost anyone in any medium. Ryan's art is unique, varied, and has stories. "I am never done learning and trying new art! and I want to make it fun" he says. Ryan has very little formal art training, way too many hobbies, and a flair for the simple elegance of a complex design. He is a bit shy at first, but don't hesitate to say Hello if you find him out and about making little copper trees. He is easy to spot as he looks like a cross between grizzly adams and chuck norris.
